Gobi baking class: Cupcake Session

Gobi holds baking lessons every week.
This Saturday, Gobi held it’s 4th cupcake making class this year. 

Gobi teaches not just recipe and technique of making cupcakes but the history and popularity behind this particular pastry.
Cupcake can be traced as far back as 1796. small cake baked in a hence cupcake.
Other names of cupcake: cake in a mug, jar cake, butterfly cake, cake ball.
Cupcake shops, specialized bakeries that make and sell cupcakes, became popular In New York City, after the popular television shows Sex and the City.


1.Butter or margarine


3.Free-range eggs, lightly beaten

4.vanilla extract





  1. Cream the butter and sugar, Beat in the eggs a little at a time and stir in the vanilla extract.
  2. Fold in the flour, add a little milk. Spoon the mixture into the paper cases. Bake for 10 to 15minutes.
  3. For the buttercream icing, beat the butter in a large bowl until soft. Add half the icing sugar and beat until smooth.
  4. Then add the remaining icing sugar with the milk.
  5. Add the food colouring and mix until well combined.
  6. 6. Spoon the icing into a piping bag with a star nozzle and pipe the icing using a spiralling motion onto the cup cakes in a large swirl.
